Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture of my old Claud Butler Dalesman, which I bought secondhand? The frame number is D117794. The plate also says "Conforms with BS6102: part 1".

Try looking for a date code on the components most likely to be original, such as crank or brake calipers. The serial doesn't give you any clue and the "BS6102 part 1" standard was introduced in '81 and is possibly still current!
