Chaps ive got a french thread Campagnolo crankset, can someone please tell me the direction to unscrew the lefthand side crank pedal, is it clockwise or anticlockwise?

Not sure that's right; French bottom brackets are RHS both sides, pedals as far as I know have the familiar right / left threads like all other types.
