Campagnolo 50th Anniversary Chainset and BB Advice Please

I have a couple of queries to resolve before fitting this to my SBDU 531 Team.

I think I'm correct in saying that Campagnolo changed their ISO square taper sizes in 1983. Does anybody know whether the 50th Anniversary chainset suits the old or new interpretation of ISO? I've also picked up some conflicting information about the spindle length in a 68mm BSC threaded shell, if someone could give me a definitive answer please.

Thanks

John

I believe that Campag changed the tappers to ISO in 1993.

The 50th anniversary axle lenght is 115.3mm, it is the same for British, Italian and French threads as the lenght is determined by the rear hub axle lenght (126mm) to give the optimum chainline.

You want an axel that is stamped 70-SS on the top. That is what I have used with no issues. There was no specific BB for the 50th sets and I believe some sets came with TI axels.

Square taper iSO I believe. On velobase it says the 50th crankset is JIS but I'm not sure that is correct.

I have two sets.

Both BBs are Italian and are marked 70-SS

The spindles are 115.5mm long.

Both frames have a 69 - 69.5mm shell.

Note the spindles are not symmetrical, the drive side taper is 2mm offset so you have to put them in the correct way around.

Thank you for that. I really appreciate it.
Am I correct in thinking that the crankset is essentially Super Record?
