During the late 80's and early 90's I recall everyone ditching their traditional bar tape ribbon, and embracing the sticky backed padded vinyl which had a slightly leatherette textured surface (and was many times more comfortable). It was available in a variety of colours, and pretty cheap. Cinelli were pushing their cork tape, which was also sticky backed and available in a range of colours, but keeping it clean was always a chore.
The cork, and gel cork is still readily available, with many manufacturers still producing them in a wide range of colours, but the padded vinyl stuff can't be found anywhere.
Any ideas where I can get some?
