from all the research I've been doing lately on some of the old stuff I've got - that headbadge puts it at around the late '50s early '60s

cheers mate, i was thinking late 50's atleast, as seemed to have a older type badge and paint job, thanks again mate

There are some close-ups of older Dawes head badges here:

which suggests yours is newer than 1960.

There are some Dawes catalogues in the collection here:

http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/

which suggests they used that style of head badge by 1964. They were still using it in '69, when this Galaxy was made:

Those lugs are pretty distinctive, and I can't see any like them in any of the catalogues, but just going by the head badge, and features like the foil-backed decal panels and contrasting colours, a sixties date seems fair. Stock was probably slower to turn over in those days, and models didn't change every year in the way they do now, so it could well have been made in the mid to late sixties, and sold in 1970.

The '64 catalogue shows separate bolt-on cable guides along the top tube, while the '69 Galaxy has two brazed-on stops. Does yours have braze-ons?

WOW thanks for all of that mate, i couldnt fint nowt :( so possible it is 1970 then, the lugs on the head tube looked to fancy for 1970, but that is when he got it new, its a lovely frame, ive got a older falcon in my shed, ill get around to restoring it one day, thanks again to everyone for the help,

paul :D

This one's interesting too - pre-war. The rear hub's from 1939.

Until you posted the second picture I hadn't really registered that the "head lugs" aren't lugs at all, just reinforcing rings, and the frame is actually fillet brazed. Or is it? Any chance of better pictures of the head tube an seat cluster? Is there a serial number anywhere?
