ANOTHER MYSTERY BIKE! IDENTIFICATION HELP NEEDED

Dirt Disciple
Hello one and all. Ive recently purchased this beauty from a local auction house. Recognised the Nervex lugs straight away, had a bid and ended up with it at a more than reasonable price. It was originally all chrome plated, that plating is now peeling off, taking the horrible gold paint that has been applied with a brush off with it.

There is a grease nipple on the bottom bracket shell as well as the head tube.
As far as I can see the wheels, stem and handlebars, Bayliss Wiley BB and Brampton headset are all original. The brakes seem to be a mix match of MAFAC, GB and Weinmann, as well as a set of Shimano 600 derailleurs.

Its got a braze on mount for one shifter, and pump pegs. No other marking other than Nervex and numbers on the bottom bracket shell, and the frame number (3437) at 6 o clock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in identifying the bike. The stem is also an interesting shape if anyone can shed some light on what that might be.
Please excuse the condition, it wasn't me!

Not sure if the pictures are going to work but here goes nothing...

Re:

Files might be too big. Seat post details and rear dropouts can help identify. Not sure what it is yet but looks good.

Details of the seat lugs, rear brake bridge and dropouts as in pictures can be great. I use an image compression app to post pictures from mobile. Matching serial numbers can be found on the fork steer tube. No headbadge holes? Cant see if it has any. Bikes can travel but roughly what area your in can help with frame builders. Nervex lugs look pre 1955 with horns.

Re:

There appears to be no head badge holes. The frame number is indeed stamped on the back of the fork steerer as well as the BB shell

Chances are its a known builder. Ellis Briggs, Woodrup, Bob Jackson possibly. First thought was Ellis Briggs 53-54. Not sure of their serial numbering system. Sure others can chip in with ideas Chris.

Re:

Hi, nice frame, always liked that fork crown treatment, a thought along the lines of coupes is Whitaker & Mapplebeck nee Pennine, who are still going I believe. Terry

Re:

Ellis Briggs seems to be the most likely builder. The frame number locations match, and they're all 4 digit numbers apparently. Luckily the shop still exists and according to the website they have all their past records of frame numbers. I'll try giving them a call tomorrow see if they can confirm it. There's one for sale on eBay currently with the same lugwork as well which is another tick. Thanks for all the suggestions, anyone else have any ideas?
Cheers
Chris
