Raleigh Trent Tourist - Help Needed!

Retro Newbie
Hi all,

I was recently given this battered old Raleigh Trent Tourist...

FullSizeRender.jpg

It's darn rusty, the breaks are knackered and tyres are flat, but I would really love to restore it to its former glory. Problem is, I have no idea where to begin.

Any advice you can give (even if it's to point me in the direction of an article with pictures of what a restored Trent Tourist looks like) would be much appreciated!

Here is a picture of a red one I took a few year ago.

Strip whole bike down and clean all parts Pleanty of elbow grease required. Check seat post and handle bar stems are not seized in frame .
26x 1 3/8 tyre I think . Halfords and wilkos sell these . Also available on line .Check size on side of your tyres first.
Get some auto solv chrome polish on the rims. or if this is available in the uk.

Brakes start new blocks and cables .
Bike jumble are a good source of spares.
Enjoy project.

Give it a good clean and fresh grease on the bearings along with cables, tyres and pads and it will be good to go for another 40 years
