Devout Dirtbag
Hello
Resurrecting a 26-inch wheel Claud Butler steel frame racer. Paintwork is badly scuffed. From the picture can anyone tell me what the model of this bike is? Thank you

Mine seems to be a bit of an oddity: 26 inch wheels rather than the 27 inchers in the catalogues, French Nervar front sprocket and cranks and six cogs not five on the back. Previous owner also removed the headbadge - no doubt for ebay. Still, apart from a stuck seatpost it seems to all work beautifully

Claud Butler made by Holdsworthy Co. Plenty of details out there, Holdsworthy bought the name when Claud went bust. Most surviving Claud Butlers are after July 1958, not Holdsworth but The Holdworthy Company, who were major importers and wholesalers to the cycle trade.
Holdsworthy produced frames, generally to standard designs, at a competitive price. I was retailing them at the time.

Up till closure Claud Butler made some modern classic quality bikes.
