Ofmega components (1980's)

Nice is a word that springs to mind :). The angled mistral cranks possibly the best looking ever. The plastic pink rear mech at the other end of the spectrum lol

Re:

Am I right in thinking the bottom bracket is a specific size for the ofmega chainset, just a heads up in case you buy a chainset and can't fit it, I may be wrong perhaps someone else can confirm

Ofmega were so close to campag in sizes it made no difference, certainly in the 70's.

I always wondered why Campag never sued Ofmega / OMAS, but there again OMAS made the Campag titanium BB's LOL

So I need a modern-ish Campy-compatiable square taper (ISO) to use with an old Ofmega chainset? Will shimano not work with Ofmega?

Luckily they're still available. http://www.highonbikes.com/token-carbon ... 111mm.html

I ran Shimano and Campag chainsets side by side back in the 1970's using whatever bb I had to hand, used SR and Sugino on the same as well :)

Didn't swap French, ta or strong light though .....

I can't remember where I read it, try Sheldon brown, it might have been on there

I had Ofmega components on my first bike in the mid 80's. Beautiful quality,a cheap Campagnolo substitute but I can honestly say top drawer performance and finish.

Here, I just googled this

www.sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html
Ofmega cranks, including those branded "Avocet" use a non-standard spindle, thinner than either J.I.S. or ISO spindles. As far as I know, nothing else works.

You can read it if you like
