Shimano 600 Stem

Hi guys,
I have shimano 600 (6400) stem with 26mm bar clamp size. I have just bought new 26mm handlebar but it seems as it still has space between bar and stem. It is not snug fit...Does anyone else has this space between bar and stems clamp?

Are you 100% certain its a 26.0 diameter clamp on the stem? It sounds like you may have an Italian spec'd stem (26.4 clamp). If that's the case the typical solution is to cut a shim out of a beer can and slid it between bar and stem to make them fit. I did that with a 26.4 clamp size Cinelli stem I was running a while back and it worked quite well.

I got it so long ago I forgot if there is any information written on the stem. I will check it tomorrow and also take picture of the space between stem and handlebar.

You have to get the bars through, somehow. So there is a little gap. I have the same, don't worry. I don't think they ever made 26,4 diameter.

I don't believe they made these in Cinelli size. Remember bar and stem sizes are nominal, even though they come down to 10ths of a mm. Thus you can get a loose or tight fit with various combinations.
