Band-on fixing down tube cable guides

I'm coming round to the idea of having my Ellis Briggs restoration project resprayed but I'm stuck on the question of the down tube braze-on cable guides. They're the bar-end compatible type which makes fitting down tube levers impossible. The plan is to rebuild the bike with the original bar-end levers but if I don't get on with them I'd like to fit down tube ones instead.

So, the point is if I get Ellis Briggs to remove the braze-ons is it possible to buy a clamp-on double cable guide that will work with bar-end levers?

Cheers,
Mark.

Sorry about the short post but yes. You could have down tube bosses brazed on and use converters but at least have a stop brazed under the frame to stop anything clamped on from slipping :)

You will also need a pair of band on levers if you are not using the bar end shifter ?

True, but I'll cross that bridge when/if I come to it. For now I like the idea that without anything brazed onto the down tube I can fit anything (or nothing for fixed wheel) on the bike.
