Carlton Identify? - domed seatstays & square eylets

Hi folks,
Bought this old Carlton as a work bike. Living in London, a single-speed is actually quite practical. However, I was looking to fit some mudguards and realised I hadn't seen these type of square eyelets before, and much further up the stays. Also the domed seat-stays I haven't seen. Is it a Carlton? And if so, anybody got any idea what type and how old?
Thanks

Might have done, but not to me. I think I bought it from the fella who built it up.
Do you have a link to Tel's sale. Would be interested in any info.

Beat me to it Shaun!

Looks very similar, does yours have the dent in the top tube?

Well, the buyer (emperor) turned it into a fixie and sold it to me.

Maybe I shouldn't be using it as a work bike, and opinion on the previous thread was that it might be a classy older frame (40s/50s). Anybody know anything further????

Re:

Its definitely prewar and Carlton. Just looked at the catalogues 1935-40 online, National Cycle museum have got. Not sure how they were numbered but some will know. 1930s mudguard braze-on's and headclip, headtube. 531 tubing definitely. Plain lugs, they were mass produced but its a survivor. Has it still got the clip headset?

Headclip = The headset has no locknut, its held together by a band tightened by a nut and bolt, way before my time lol. Usually the headset races are set into the frame rather than by cups.
