A friends uncle passed away and left him two bikes. He isn't mechanically minded and asked if I wanted them. Had to say yes! :D Been left in his uncles barn and might of been his Aunts bike? Early 60s upgrades are a nice find.

Nice find!

Cantis can be good on an old bike, more stopping power than calipers if you set them up right.

Saddle is a little out of place, would think a Brooks or Ideale would go better.

More pictures please if you get time...

Very nice, Nervex pro lugs, handbuilt, probably to order. With the canti brakes and loads of clearance I wonder if this was originally specced for a bit of 'cross use?

Just in case you haven't come across the Classic Lightweights site, this is just the sort of era bike they specialise in: http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/flyingscot.html

Looks like there's a dedicated Flying Scot site though.

Thanks Johnsqual, think it could have been used for cyclocross. Canti brakes think an early 60s upgrade but cleaned up well. I'd never heard of the Saddle before and its padded soft leather. Research on it and wasn't cheap but think 70s?

Thanks Jonny69, tried to email Bob Reid at the Flying Scot site but not getting through. Hope he is still with us or if anyone knows if there is any contact available please pm me. Even though the paint is shot the quality of the lug work is superb. Pictures coming.

Lovely diamond ends on the brake bridge.
