Whys it so dear

Probably because he hopes some transatlantic connoisseur will pay over the odds! Some nice detail touches to the bike but not for USD12K - if he's asking that sort of price, at least the tyres should match :xmas-wink:

Re:

Because he is not even a "connaisseur" and he believes he's got a treasure

we have got our fair share of "idiots" here in France

one crappy pic , not on the crankset side

midrange simplex derailleurs

only the frame, saddle and wheels are out of the ordinnary

but a consolation, he will certainly keep his bike !

Ah - but did you ask in French? Probably refuses to understand Anglais

You see, he puts an USD price on it for that enormous, transatlantic french speaking population - could at least have done it in CAD for the Quebec folks :xmas-big-grin:

Re:

Wonder how many offers were for more than £100....

Some bikes MIGHT be worth $12k, but they'd have to be exceptional top of the range and in mint condition with marketable history (Like, the Bike Eddy Road to a TdF Stage victory). This is his dad's old commuter out of the shed. It has plastic Simplex gears, and at that price it's not even clean, has knackered handlebar tape and the saddle's gubbed (unless your bum is exactly same shape as his dad's was...)

Taking the p*ss
