Need help cleaning my brake caliper...

These came from a bike I bought just for the groupset, the rear caliper cleaned up a treat however it seems that there's a substance on the front caliper that won't budge.

I've tried three in one penetration spray and good old washing up liquid to no avail. It feels like it's on the surface so it should budge.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Could have been a manufacturing fault and the bare alloy was contaminated before it was anodised.

No chance of making them look new, unless you strip off the old anodising - re-polish - re-anodised.

Looks like road salt to me. Lesson to all of us who ride all year round to wash at the end of each ride. (And then spray with WD40 - hint 'WD' stands for 'water dispersant'.)
