Pretty sure it's 3mm you need for 8sp.

BTW, I've seen a bike set up with 9spd new style campa ergos (so, cable pull 3mm per click) with shimano seven speed (requires 2.9mm cable pull per klikk) rear mech and cassette, and worked perfectly Just thought that it also means that an 9spd campa shifter-shimano rear mech will perfectly match with an 8spd campa rear cassette, which is essentially the same as shimano 7spd plus one cog.

I have a spares compartment with a load of them in . Looks like time to get the vernier callipers out :facepalm:
Interesting about the shimano/campag compatibility too . I will be using shimano though , either d/t shifters or some d/a sti units if I can persuade my friend he doesn't need them anymore
