I did make it, but I turned up late, did the 50miler and then had to dash straight home afterwards. There were quite a few stares and a couple of people asked about the bike, which is always nice.
Regarding lightness, my one weighs about 10.9kgs and it was a lot more before the component/wheel upgrade. If you want to have a look and see how much magnesium it takes to strengthen the frame, have a look at my webpage -
