Can brakes with a nut fitting to the fork/bridge be used with an Allen thingy countersunk fitting - subject to getting hold of the appropriate hardware? I have a frame/fork designed for countersunk Allen fitting and don't want to buy nut secured brakes if they won't be any use to me.
TIA.

Yes, they will fit but don't forget that calipers with nut fixing have longer bolts so you'll have to cut them down which never turns out well.

You can drill the threads out of the recessed nuts and use them as a bushing for the back of the fork crown and rear bridge. Then you can mount the standard nutted style to your frame.

You might have to file the faces of the recessed nuts to flush them up with the crown and bridge.

agree with JonWms above but i would cut off the nut flanges rather than file them

I was going to suggest make up a top hat bush to take up the space, but JonWms's'es suggestion seems much more sensible :D

You don`t state the brand of brake, but if Campag, I have in the past obtained an allen nut rear pivot bolt + front/rear allen nuts, use the rear nut caliper for the front, fit the allen pivot bolt in the original front caliper & use for the rear. Or if you have kit to thread the pivot bolt usually M6, do as above, cutting & threading the longer pivot bolt + then just requiring the 2 allen nuts
