How to clean a leather suede saddle ?

Suede was the thing to have against the sit bones back in the 70's, nightmare to try and keep looking brand new 
We used a sort of little brush with thousands of little brass bristles like a huge toothbrush with shoe suede cleaner....even then it was pretty hopeless as anything you did made it shiny. Half way through the season we bought a new one and passed the expired one to a schoolboy.
Maybe there is something new in the shoe care range a I noticed suede shoes are back in fashion

Use a steam cleaner, it will sanitise, clean and refresh the suede.
