I'm looking at buying one of these vintage Brummie built bikes, can anybody tell me if they are good as commuters? Its in great condition and I love the look of it.

Aren't these Raleigh mass produced in Worksop with Raleigh non standard 26 TPI threads?
Variously named BSA, Sun, Carlton, and others.
Decent enough, but nothing special.

£75 on eBay?

They're basic bikes but it'll be a comfortable stylish ride. Lots of steel parts, well rims and crank, which takes a bit more looking after than a modern all alloy set up.

Personally I'd go for it! Actually if its the one I'm thinking of then I did go for it but logistically it wasn't possible :(

Solid little bike without doubt.

If its got Birmingham on the badge it will be earlier, ie before production switched to Worksop under Carlton control, c early 1960s.

Worksop Suns from the seventies...
