Andymuza,

Regarding the HTC phone and Map My Ride - do you need constant connection to work it? If the signal is poor, what happens?

Thanks,

Richard

Sorry for not replying sooner.

Only GPS is required, data is not needed unless you want to upload and share.

It's a great app.

To emphasise my point, my friend bought a new bike this week - for road riding and training but he bought a hybrid type bike as the roads are too poor for a road bike.

I've stayed off Strava so far for similar reasons. Roads round here are rubbish or busy and on my road bike I average 18mph, hybrid is 15 and MTB is 13.5 on the same routes. I know that I should choose the most appropriate tool but my excess of middle aged (un)competitiveness is likely to skew the choice!

Thanks Tel,

I had noticed another post about this topic recently which seems to merit the sticky.

Anyone tried these ere Solar Phone chargers?
Any recommendations?
Any to avoid?
Seems a great idea to be able to put the panel in the mesh of your backpack and let it charge as you ride.
Thanks in advance :)
