I normally ride a 56cm (VTT) modern frame. My 2 options on a raleigh randonneur are 54.5 or 57. What size would you guys say would be best for someone 5ft 10" / 31" leg?

In that case this will be mine after the weekend! I've bought a new stem, down tube shifters and brake levers to sort out the mess the last owner has left it in. Other that that it's in very very good condition. The frame hasn't got a mark on it anywhere.
In honesty once you'd tidied it up those sti's wouldn't look to bad, convenient to use too. If you have to change them out for aesthetic reasons then I'd opt for bar end shifters instead of downtube....
I agree the sti 's are convenient and dont look too bad ! looking at the stem ,the previous owner must have ridden quite sat up ! nice find , plenty of character.
I'd say a 23" frame
