Folks I'm after some guidance on a frame that's come up for sale with a dent in the top tube and I can't decide if the dent is going to have a detrimental effect on the frames strength.

The Dent is in the middle of the top tube. The seller isn't hiding the dent and has sent me the following pictures.

Im not asking anybody for a definitive yes / no it'll be fine but any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Mark

Re: Dented frame advice

There's a brief discussion on this frame in the eBay area on here.

It's not something I'd want to ride hard, and definately no jumping!

Re: Dented frame advice

If there are no cracks and the frame is straight put some filler in it and paint it.

But only buy it at a steeeeeeeeep discount and only if you can't find another elsewhere, ever.

Get him to put a straight edge along the bottom of the frame and hold it up with the light behind it. If it's bent at all, avoid it.

Re: Dented frame advice

Sorry just realised I've posted this in the wrong section and erased part of the post when pasting in the photo links. Doh.

The frame is actually a 96 kona explosif MTB .

I think I'll give it a miss as if I bought it I would want to ride it properly and like rampage says its probably a take it easy frame from now on.

Any chance a mod can move this to the MTB chat section ?
