I have a 531ST tubed Peugeot tourer with a dent in the middle of the top tube. The pics are below. I put a bit of silver paint on to stop any rust developing while it was out the shed.

It looks quite nasty but is it safe?

I have 2 dents like that in the top tube of my Cannondale, I know they were both done on clothes line poles when the bike fell against them  They have been there for ages with no problems

I've happily ridden for years on MTBs with worse!

A dent like that on steel should be fine just keep an eye on it in case cracks develop

Thanks all. That was my gut feeling but more confident now it's been confirmed.

I think I'll clean off a bit of paint around the edges of the dent just to make sure there are no cracks starting.
