Band on to braze on Arabesque shifters

I have a really nice pair of band on Arabesque downtube (of course!) shifters but need braze on.Can I deband the ones I have and just use some spare plastic washer bits from the spares box?I don't want to take the band ons apart without knowing it's possible to attach then to properly to the frame (which is a 1979 Koga Miyata )

Hi,

I did exactly what you're planning on my Pat Rohan. The only problem I came across was that I had to knock out the small pin and then grind off (with a Dremel) the small section of moulding on each lever. See the before and after picture below (before is on the right). Once that was done I had no problem fitting to braze ons.
