Hi there,

i would appreciate your expertise and knowledge please.... And I hope I'm posting this in the right forum section, as Merlins cross the 1998 categories!

I am on the cusp of purchasing a Merlin Extralight, and am trying to confirm with the seller that the bike is actually the Extralight model. The decals have been removed, and the seller says there is no serial number starting with XL on the rear dropouts

He says the only serial number on it is 15174. I understood that the Extralights all had the XL serial number, is that correct?

is there any other way of determining whether this is an Extralight or the 'standard' Titanium model, apart from the serial number?

Thanks in advance!

- Warren.

According to this the serial number 15174 is for a 1998 frame, no mention of Extralight or XL that I saw
