Afternoon all,

Have you any tips about cleaning the exterior of tyres - the amberwall bits etc.

Fairy liquid or other kitchen type cleaner?

Thanks all,

Richard

I always do mine with WD40, same goes for brake hoods, after the bike its the best thing ever invented :)

Far be it from me to worry, but WD40 on tyres? And chance of making them slippery?

A couple of good suggestions, thanks - anything i should not use?

I just use a clean cloth, spray the WD40 onto the cloth and rub the amber wall. You'll need to keep moving to a clean bit of cloth or you'll end up re-staining where you've cleaned. Then buff up with another clean cloth. Some tyres are just beyond anything but this works well on grease, oil, rub and finger marks :)

Rubber hoods are the same process but the old toothbrush is handy for getting into any indentations. Just make sure you put the toothbrush back before the wife notices

Howcome so much RB stuff involves evading wives and their cleaning products?

Richard

When I fit new tyres I clean the route I want to ride first so that my tyres stay nice and clean. :p
