ERGO 9 speed internal upgrade

If I replace the 9 speed ratchet of my Veloce ergos with a Record one, which is available as spare, will I get "record like" shifting or the part is just exactly the same?
Any idea?
 
I think that the Record shifters had extra ball bearings to support the ratchet mechanism. Depends on the year though.
 
Oh yes, I finally got hold of the 2001 documentation and it appears the ratchet is the same, while what makes the difference is a pair of bearings on the record, which require the record casing to fit... so the project is not feasible
