Peugeot brakes.....help!

I'm building up an old Peugeot Super Competition 531 bike. I bought some shiny new caliper brakes for it only to discover that, what I think is called the pivot bolt (hollow and threaded), is too big for the corresponding hole in the frame/forks through which the brakeset attaches to said pivot bolt.

Will I have to get an old brakeset or is there a modern one with a narrow pivot bolt? If so, suggestions please. Alternatively, is there a source of pivot bolts which would fit this particular frame?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Newer frames have Allen bolt holes that sort of do up in the frame. Older brakes attach via a nut on the bolt.

New modern calipers are more efficient and you could drill out the frame to make these work, however gone will be the originality of your frame. All depends on your goal for the bike build.
