Been asked before I know, but what chain do you guys recommend for use on non-indexed 5/10 and 6/12 speed drivetrains?

Looking for budget options, as well as more luxury / period correct ones.

Cheers,
Al

Standard 3/32nd pitch derailleur chain from cheap as chips too pricey. Non indexed sprockets are not fussy

What if you need to have indexing? I've got shimano 6400 indexing downtube shifters on a 7 speed cassette. Do you need a different chain?

that KMC one would be fine, though I'd spend a couple more £ and get the silver one as it's prettier

I use a KMC Z82 on 5, 6 and 7 speed drivetrains. Works a harm and is silver so looks good. I have one on my Campag 12 speed drive train it's fine.

There is lots of choice.
