Well I have an axel which has a messy thread than needs a bit of re-cutting to clean it up. I suspect caused by overzelous tighening of the lock nut onto the cone at some point.

After much fidding with dies I guessed it was a M10 x 1.0 which we dont have, so I ordered one ... and it dosn't fit

Anyone know the spec of the thread, is it standard?

From the early 1950's Campagnolo enlarged the 3/8 inch x 26 TPI standard to 10mm x 26TPI for the rear QR hubs, to allow for a stronger skewer.

Upon further examination it is a M10 x 1.0 just needed to be a bit firmer/braver with die ....
