Can anyone shed some light on what this old tandem might be and is it of any interest as I may be able to get my hands on it if anyone is interested.

Hi, looks like an old Claud, check for a serial number on the B/B. This looks similar http://classiccycleus.com/home/?p=2971 . Terry
