Work in progress...

Couple of questions:

1) Do I need specific braze-on indexed shifters if I'm coming from band-on indexed shifters?

2) What colour bar tape should I go for?

3) Should I tidy the dining room?

Ans:

1) No, the band just provides the threads/bosses and the "stops".

2) yellow.

3) I can't see a problem there. Is there some issue? If you can't find your tools when you need them, then yes.

And a question: why such a slack rear end on a 753 frame?

Rear end looks slack because it's wearing 700C wheels, not 27"... is that cheating?

You say "dining room", I say "heated workshop annex".

PS You should have added "Are coloured tyres a good idea?" to your list...

4) Are coloured tyres a good idea?

Personally, I don't hate them, but they're just a placeholder really until I can be bothered to fit black ones.

'Heated workshop annexe' - like it

Hi grogee :-) I'm no raliegh tubing expert, but there are some experts in here so they might correct me if I'm wrong but ... "front forks with a lampholder made of 753 ? " I can't see that being right somehow. The geometry also looks wrong to me.

753 = race tubing = go faster = lighter = top end = race geometry

lamp holder + mudguard clearance + 27" wheels + wrong geometry = not 753

Just some thoughts my friend :-) All the best yours Laz.

PS: )

Do I need specific braze-on indexed shifters if I'm coming from band-on indexed shifters? "I'd stay away from indexed altogether and go for friction assuming you already have brase-on posts"

2) What colour bar tape should I go for? Not what colour my friend, what type :-) Comfort over colour, then colour. I always try & match saddle to bar tape, but each to their own :-)

3) Should I tidy the dining room? "Absolutely not .... looks good to me ... just how a frontroom should look "
