Drum brakes on a Road bike

A Raleigh Zenith was given to me by a friend,
that has no use for it.
I want to biuld it up as a university / commuterbike
as it is the right size and in good shape.
There are some parts missing.

The rear wheel came with a Strumey Archer Elite ST Drumbrake
and ugly brake levers.
Can the drumbrake be used with normal road bike brake levers, or is this not possible?

Otherwise I would have to buy 2 new wheels.

Thanks

Your Sturmey Archer ST drum brake will work well with any type of brake lever you wish to use. You would normally adjust the movement of the brake
arm by means of the brake cable end fitting, and then fine tune with the cable
adjuster at the lever. I have ST drum brakes front and rear on an early MTB
and they work well.
