Does any one know where in the UK where a Vitus 979 frame's joints/lugs can be 'safely' and securely re-bonded?.....I asked Dave Yates and was told no...despite his website saying 'if it can be glued....Dave can do it.'

Any advice or suggestions......much appreciated.

Bonding technology has moved on in leaps and bounds since they were producing the Vitus 979 in 1979. 3M produce an aluminium glue which is far more durable and stronger.

If its a single loose joint I'd suggest doing it yourself. If all the joints are perished and need re-bonding it will need to go on a jig for alignment. I don't know of anyone who does this anymore, but I would think even if there was someone around, the cost would outweigh the value of the frame.

Your looking at the other Vitus up for sale here with the nice anodising.

Surely a frame builder would be able to do it with the right glue. I suppose it is a case of persuading one to take it one. The cost may not be woreth it though.
