Advice on old Novy Retro Bike

Caribs

Retro Newbie
Hey guys,

I'm new here so I hope this is the good place to post!

I'm currently searching a bike for riding in Brusssels (Belgium). I really enjoy retro looking bikes and I found this one for 180€.

I do not know this brand (Novy). From a quick search on the forum it seems coming from Belgium.

The characteristics given are :

Novy size 57
5 speeds
28" aluminum wheels
Never used and perfect state

Do you think it is a good deal? I have absolutely no clue of what a Novy bike should cost...

Thanks!

Hello,

That bike is a bit overpriced for what it is. It looks like a good man's city bike, nice condition and quality but not worth €180. I've seen similar for sale at round €100.

You could try www.kapaza.be and maybe you could find something similar
for less money, especially if you're willing to pick up from outside Brussels.

Novy made some very nice bikes, even a couple that were ridden by Belgian
pro teams. I recently restored a racer of theirs that was really top end,
with full Reynolds 531 and campag nuovo record.
However, they were a bit like Raleigh, in that they made a full range of bikes. They also made motorbikes and even central heating boilers, I think.

Other good quality Belgian makes to look out for are Diamant, Flandria,
Norta, and Ludo. Most of the bikes from those brands are decent.

Good luck.

Johnny
