Can't upload images just yet.
I think my frame is very early eighties. It has long simplex ends with a mech hanger. Spacing is 126/127mm and has guard eyes.

The odd thing is that it has canti bosses as well as old bolt through brake bridges.
The rear drop from centre of the mount to centre of the rim is about 60mm. The front is a little deeper at about 65mm.

Is that about right for 700c mudguard clearance. Or too deep?

I would guess at it being 27 11/4 wheels, given that it has Simplex dropouts, canti bosses? hmm, if you could get a picture Im sure things would become clearer. :)

Not that odd considering you still need some way of attaching the mudguards.
