Currently working on a vintage road bike project and prefer a more comfortable posture on my frame.

I am thinking of putting an MTB type quill stem on my Road bike, any opinions ? practical advice ?

Are there any quill stems for road bikes that come with a rise ?

Cheers

yes theres loads of quills with a rise
i have a giant make adjustable quill stem so you can adjust it up and down to suit your mood backache going up big hills or down
these some on ebay 12.99 miine was over 40 quid about ten years ago
they are very good quality especailly for 12.99
there are alot of cheapo adjustble kalloy etc types available but the giants the best adjustable type for 13 quid

The high end early 90s Syncros Altura came in 0 degrees variation.

I just bought a kalloy high and short stem for the mixte flat bar build, mine came from velo solo http://velosolo.co.uk/shopbar.html, it's a 25.4 clamp so check what clamp you need.

A bike I did a couple of years back with trekking bars I got a quill stem with adjustable angle, it was in chrome so didn't look too noggy, I think it was a budget brand like bbb or something.
