how to clean old steel pedals

I've got some Lyotard pedals I would like to clean up. They have spots of rust on them and I'd generally like to clean them up for sale.

Anyone got any tips on how to clean steel stuff?

Quickest and easiest way is to get some 0000 grade steel wool dipped in oil. If you have lots of chrome pitting and they are quite bad, oxalic acid is good. I use 2 teaspoons in a large coffee jar and then soak for 24 hours. Although You'll probably have to strip and clean the bearings after.

fine wire brush for getting any little rust spots off, followed by wire wool, working down a few grades, then I use autosol to finish it off.
