Harry Quinn Restoration

Hi I'm in the middle of restoring a HQ bike (frame only - I'll add components later)

I'm having difficulty establishing the serial and date for it.

I've found the serial but its very faint - I'll post some photos asap. as for dating, it still has the Liverpool decals and seat stays wrap round the seat tube. Beyond that I'm at a loss

I'm stripping it back to the metal. Any words of wisdom on how to respray. I have a compressor.

The frame also has a couple of dents - should these be filled (and what with)

Sorry for all the questions but just getting started

Andrew

The only real way to see if it is a genuine HQ is to show us the stamped number which should be under the bottom bracket. The genuine ones have a 'Q' made from an 'O' and another 'squiggly' punch.

The address on the head badge will also help in dating it as the early 'genuine' ones had 'Walton Road', later (post Harry) had 'England'.

Some more info here -

I found the serial on the forks as well. Yep the Q is made up of a 1 and 0

and the serial is Q1905

The decals are of Liverpool and not GB
