Trigger Shifters For Old Dawes

Hi all,

I recently got my mum an old dawes horizon. It had drops so I converted it to flat bars because that's what she wanted.

It was a huge improvement over her supermarket special £60 POS and she really likes it but...

She want's trigger/mtb style shifters like on my brothers MTB rather than the downtube shifters like it currently has.

It's a 6 speed block with a sachs huret classic 2000 mech.

What are my options? Can I just replace the shifters or is it a case of changing the freewheel/mech/shifter?

Cheers

These (for an 18-speed set-up with triple chainset) are currently doing the rounds on eBay;

Made by SunRace but 6sp. stuff has a greater degree of compatibility than 8sp. upwards parts so you should be OK - parts like this that work with Shimano kit are generally good for Sachs-Huret too in my experience.

they look bang on mate.

If they're effectively a straight swap then they're worth a punt.
