can someone please help figure out wwhat bike this is

Hi everyone,

I'm new on this forum and was pointed here trough another bike forum since all specialist concerning retro bikes are here

I managed to get my hands on a fairly in good condition retro bike but since i'm a complete noob when it comes to bikes i was hoping some of you fine people could help me figure out what kind of bike/model this is.

some people helped me in figuring out its a "Gitane" and they are guessing its a mid 70's bike.

since this forum is all about retro bikes i was hoping someone could pin down the model of the bike and exact year.

there is this worn out "reynolds 531" (in french) sticker on the tubing (i figured that one out from searching and comparing on the internet)

on the bottom of the bike there is this serial nr (i don't know if this might help out)

My plan is to bring the bike back to life like it was in the old days.

Its not that i'm to lazy to find out myself i really did try and find as much as possible but there are no stickers left on the bike...Anny help would be so much appreciated everyone!!

Also, would it be a stupid thing to turn this bike into a single speed with respect for original paint job and as much original parts as possible.

Can't help you with the model, I guess just searching and searching for one the same colour with similar components is your best bet. It's not a high end model in my humble opinion though, can't see any harm in single speeding it personally.

Give it a good scrub, stick some new Gitane stickers on it and it'll be lovely.
