HELP ...Identify Pre/ Postwar 28" Brit Bike starting in

derailled

Dirt Disciple
Hi

Picked up an interesting old 28" framed bike today in New Zealand.

Bit rusty but rideable but for the flat back tyre..it had rotted through.

It has been a black bike but now painted red and white.

Has the old classic front frame with bolt on rear forks.
Seat was a blue chopper bannana metalflake gel attached to a tall sissy bar [ chopper]obv not original.
Had ape hangers ( :

Hubs are convered to hub brake on the front.Still works a treat.
Rear has those large pre/post war BSA black sports brakes on the back that clamp the edge of the rim and not the inner circumference.
Flat sq profile australasian guards. Big bulky things.

3 speed sturmey archer has been added to the rear. Cable slave wheel under seat on the frame RHS.

Webbing on the chainwheel has 5 x A's incorporated into a pentagon. Headlight bracket has a large capital A in it.

Frame top tube slopes down or looks like it does when you veiw it.

Have not looked for a frame number yet as the red paint is rough.

Any ideas?

There were many brands made in Aussy and UK beginning with A.

I would say it is 1940s?

Iwill try to get a pic posted shortly...
