Loads of stuff on youtube so thought I'd start a thread

1999 Armstrong to Sestriere, cotton cap, quill stem (the last major win with a quill stem?), great music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiCIJ2Je ... re=related

Armstrong-Pantani on Hautacam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6DmNMGE ... re=related

Beloki crash, Armstrong offroad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtZhG2kW ... re=related

Sorry, bit of an Armstrong fest (and I'm not a fan!) but great footage.

And, as a change from Lance, Cancellara at Paris-Roubaix 2010 (reminds me of Vallins at HoNC 2010 if I'm honest) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7xjsPqHg3o

In true retrobike fashion, how about 1985 Paris Roubaix:

Seems as though the weather was worse back in the day?

1986 was pretty good too:

Given the fuss about the level-crossing a couple of years ago, about 2:30 in they had a more pragmatic approach too.

A couple of genuine 'old-timers' from the early 60's.

I can recognise some of the riders but not many. The winner of the Gillette International is Ken Nuttall riding then for Manchester Wheelers, later he turned independent for Harry Quinn/Everyman Oil. I think Colin Lewis is there as well in his Mid-Devon RC jersey.

On the same YouTube 'pages' there are several other films as well.

Any idea where I can spot Colin Lewis, he won a few TT races that I rode as a school boy and junior back in the 80's and I guess the Mid Devon Jerseys had changed by then as I can't spot him in the clips

Thanks

I think it is in the Gillette event, there is a break of 3 or 4 riders about mid-way in the event and I THINK he is the one in the black (or very dark brown?) jersey with yellow and red stripes? I've a feeling that this was the early Mid-Devon jersey although I'm very welcome to being advised otherwise!

On the other hand, it might not be him at all! The picture quality in the moving images is not very good so it's difficult to pick riders out unless they have some specific defining feature. I can see Mick Shea from Hemel Hempstead CC (he's tall) and Dave Bedwell riding for Fred Dean (he's very short!). There's probably others I could pick out with a good hard look - and crossing my eyes to try and focus the picture!

Thanks Old Ned, I'll try and get some MDCC members to have a look. For info Dave Bedwell used to build wheels for Colin when Colin owned Colin Lewis Cyles.
