^ but this is still a single-speed solution, not fixed gear i.e. no freewheel.

Rather than do a lash-up, you can build a wheel for about £40 - Planet-X hub for £15, cheapo rim for the same and a tenner for spokes. Track hubs aren't dished, so it's an easy build.
