I have taken this bottom bracket out of a 1976 Gazelle,
The axle has Shimano and 3P stamped on it, I believe that 3P relates to the size (according to Sheldon Brown)
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html#shimano

Both cups are marked with SHIMANO JAPAN 1.37 x 24T HA.

Any one able to help with identifying it?

I may be sounding thick, but have you answered your own question?

I don't know TBH, if I have then great!
I intend to sell this as it is of no use to me but I wanted to get my facts right before putting it in the For Sale forum.
All I know is what I have written, did manufacturers have different "types" at this time, or in the seventies was a bottom bracket just a bottom bracket and not differentiated by different types like we have now?

I think it's a 105. HA is a 1983 date code. The 1983 Shimano catalogue shows a 105 bottom bracket with chromed steel cups and a solid black axle with male threads:

3P is one of several axle codes listed:

That's 68mm shell, 119mm effective length, 140mm including threads.
