The dude in the front of this pic (Michael) rode his old early 80'es green Japanees cyclecross bike with full gear 1000km from Rome to lausanne. We went with him on a shorter 70km ride outside Lausanne. Three old colnagoes and his Miyata (I think... correct me here Lars!). That was a true steel-is-real-ride... Michael might not be so fast in the spints... but talk about consistency! He seriously had a concersation with some other bikerider about if you became tired of riding after 200 or 300 km... He thought that 300 km was kind of a short ride!
