Help to Identify Peugeot

biggins

Retro Guru
I picked this Peugeot up from a guy that had it since he was 18. I think it is early/mid 70's, but would like to pin it down a bit closer.

The plan is a gentle restoration keeping as much original as possible and enhance the patina. It will need new bar tape, cables and tyres. The paint around the BB area is in poor condition with a bit of rust. I will treat that and repaint the BB area. the original leather saddle has flared a little, so will treat it and squeeze it back in shape

It has a shop sticker from Baca Bikes in Birchall Road, Rushden.

Any pointers on its origins would be warmly welcomed

Thanks Chris

Re:

Thanks Jim

Numbers on left drop out are Y704 28688

Looking on Bikeboompeugeot the frame numbers there don't fit this pattern. But looking at the graphics I'd guess late 70's. But can't see an exact match

Re:

thanks Marshall, found a site with headtube badges, it matches the 75 headtube badge that was changed in 77. If the frame number means the frame was made in April 77 it is quite possible that it had the 75/76 headtube badge

Of interest it doesn't have the rainbow stripes on the seat tube and either side of the Peugeot on the down tube, but has the French Tricolore

Thanks for your help. more photos when cleaned and done
