Hello! I need advice on brake levers on the Cannondale T500 / 1999.
I am buying this Cannondale (in mint condition). Unfortunately, it has been redesigned into straight handlebars with a modern shifters...
What levers were used in 1999?
In 1999, the combination on this bike was Alivio / STX 3x7 and for T700 LX / RSX (3x9).
Bars were Coda 700R.
They write only Shimano at the levers without further specification...
Thanks for help!

Re:

7 speed RSX STI levers.

Beware if looking for a pair of these as the grease gums up over time and stops the pawls working properly - often need a strip down unless success comes from squirting copious amounts of something like WD40 (unlikely).

Are you sure you want to get rid of the straights? My T2000 from the year 2000 had a silly set up for touring with Ultegra 3x9 STI and a road triple with a 52T large ring. It's much better now with straight bars, LX 660 shifters working a 2x9 set up and a bash ring in place of the 52 ring.

The T500 may well be rarer than the more expensive models but it has the same frame and the CAAD2 makes for a classic look- would be nice to see what you do with it. I would try to upgrade it towards the T1000 and include a pair of bar end shifters maybe
