Dirt Disciple
Hello. I got these large flange dura ace hubs at the weekend. Am I right that they may be 1st generation? If they are not how old are they. QR nut on rear is actually campagnolo.
Thanks

First gen Dura Ace in black, dead jealous lol should be date stamped somewhere... cones etc but 70's are they 36/36 holes?

H series.... Shimano a bit slow on doing all black stuff in Dura Ace guise, they "forgot" to do a black Dura Ace rear mech so it launched with the black Crane to finish the group. 1974 if memory serves?

Re:

i had some of these but in the small flange version. I was forever breaking rear axles at the point of where the block-side cone ends. In the end I got some campag record axles and threaded those cones and locknut onto it. Needless to say, the threading was slightly different, but I forced it on (obviously recutting a thread) and never had another snapped axle.
I see your rear hub is also missing the chrome locknuts.

nice hubs though

Nice hubs, always been a sucker for an LF hub and I'm sure I've got the mechs in black to go with those somewhere.

Re:

Thanks for the replies. I thought the locknuts/spacers on the rear did not look 100%correct but bought them off FB from photos and got a mate to collect. Front spins very well. The rear spins okay but I think would benefit from a service.
